About Brandes

Brandes is a UK-based singer-songwriter whose music blends poetic folk with spoken word and is rooted in folk and acoustic indie-rock. His vocal style is raw and confessional, with pared-back arrangements of guitar, keyboard and strings providing a sensitive setting for his lyrics.

His first album, The Distance Between Dreams, was released to critical acclaim in 2025.

Earmilk - “a beautiful new album…loaded with poetic and emotional resonance…every track is a chapter in a book you don’t want to end”.

Backseat Mafia - “this deeply rooted sense of history and identity infuses every track on the album, lending the music a quiet gravity and authenticity”.

Attwood Magazine - a “deeply reflective body of work that strikes with emotional rawness and an unwavering sense of history...Brandes has created something rare: a work that demands attention, resonates deeply, and lingers long after the music fades”.

His second album, Still Life, will be released in early 2027.

Authenticity is vitally important to me. I try to achieve clarity of thought and honesty of emotion in my songs. Some seek to capture a personal experience and convey how it felt then and what it means now. A handful are more about the world about us. But in all of them, I try to find a point of connection with individual listeners which, I hope, helps them engage with their own thoughts and experiences.”
